The WGCA Freshman of the Year Award is awarded annually to the top Freshman in Division I, II and III women's golf. Freshman must have competed in a minimum of 15 competitive rounds to be considered. ***For the 2019-20 season, the minimum number of rounds competed for a student-athlete to be considered for Freshman of the Year has been reduced to (8) for Division I, (6) for Division II, and (5) for Division III. These minimums match with the number of rounds needed to be ranked on Golfstat through the number of completed weeks this season.***
WGCA Freshman of the Year Criteria
- Adjusted scoring average for the year.
- Place finishes in regular season events, conference tournaments, the NCAA Regional (Division I & II) and the NCAA Championship.
- Head to head comparisons against the top 60 in the Golfstat Rankings.
- Comparison of Common Opponents.
- Strength of Schedule.
