The Women’s Golf Coaches Association has announced that Emma-Lee Torstensson of Keiser University has been named the 2019-20 NAIA WGCA Freshman of the Year.

The WGCA Freshman of the Year Award is awarded annually to the top Freshman in Division I, II, III and NAIA women's golf. The recipient is selected by a prestigious collection of women’s collegiate golf coaches who follow criteria that has been established to identify the top freshman for the past year. These criteria include:
- Adjusted scoring average for the year.
- Place finishes in regular season events.
- Head to head comparisons against the top 60 in the Golfstat Rankings.
- Comparison of Common Opponents.
- Strength of Schedule.
A native of Boras, Sweden, Torstensson finished her freshman campaign with a 76.50 scoring average. She placed in the top-10 in five tournaments throughout the year, including three finishes in the top-five. Her first career win came at the Adamonis Invitational after she posted a score of 224 (+11).
