Registration is now open for the 2018 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Member Convention scheduled for December 2 – 5 at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
Some important notifications and reminders regarding this year’s Convention.
WGCA Hall of Fame Reception and Banquet – Similar to 2017, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on the arrival day, Sunday, December 2 beginning with a reception at 7:00pm followed by dinner and the ceremony at 7:30pm. Please make your travel arrangements with the timing of this year’s banquet in mind.
The convention fee for the 2018 event will be $460 if paid before November 2. After November 2, the fee increases to $485. The site of this year’s convention will again be the Planet Hollywood in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. The WGCA convention room rate is $99 + tax and $32 daily resort fee (Sunday-Thursday) and $155 + tax and resort fee (Friday and Saturday). The room block cutoff date will be November 9, 2018. Once our room block is filled, there is no guarantee of additional room availability at our convention price.
The United States Golf Association (USGA), alongside The R&A, recently announced more than 100 Rules changes that will take place beginning January 1, 2019. To help coaches further understand the new Rules, the USGA will be hosting a “USGA Collegiate Rules of Golf Workshop” at the 2018 WGCA and GCAA conventions in Las Vegas (December 2-5). The workshop will be conducted by USGA staff, led by Thomas Pagel, Senior Director of Rules and Amateur Status. The workshop will also allow attendees to interact and ask questions.
The workshop will take place over the first two days of the convention. Sunday will feature a four-hour session and Monday will feature a two-hour session.
Coaches who attend will also receive tools to assist their student-athletes in efforts of teaching them the new Rules.
