The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced the results of the WGCA Coaches Poll preseason rankings.
In Division I, UCLA received nine first place votes to open the season at No. 1, while NCAA runner-up University of Alabama received 12 first-place votes to finish one point behind at No. 2. Rounding out the top five are the University of Arkansas, who received one first-place vote, followed by Stanford University and Duke University, who advanced to match play at last year’s NCAA Championships.
Opening at No. 1 in Division II is reigning NCAA Champion University of Indianapolis, who received 12 of a possible 15 first-place votes. Rounding out the top three are Nova Southeastern University and Dallas Baptist University, who placed fourth and third, respectively, at last year’s NCAA Championships. Last year’s fifth-place finisher Barry University sits at No. 4, while Florida Southern claims the No. 5 spot.
In Division III, defending NCAA Champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps shares the No. 1 spot with Williams College, with the two teams earning eight and five first-place votes, respectively. Last year’s third place finisher George Fox University received one first-place vote to open the season at No. 3, while New York University and Whitman College sit at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
